Brief

AutoBuddy runs a free 60-second check for business owners buying a car through their ABN. The respondent says it looks at the ABN, how long the business has been trading and its structure, compares over 30 lenders and runs no hard credit check.

The ad addresses tradies and sole traders who assume the rate a dealer quotes an ABN holder is a good one. It has to break that assumption and move them to the free check before they sign dealer finance.

Format and style

A two-person street interview in a car park in front of a Newsagent & Lotto and the Sunnybank Bakery, with white utes behind and low sun across the concrete. The respondent wears a flannel shirt, cargo shorts and work boots, and the interviewer holds a black mic out to him from the edge of frame.

The script talks about ABNs, trading history and business structure, so the look has to read as a tradie stopped between jobs. I lean on that in AI car loan video ads for business buyers: a bloke in boots saying “same car, same loan term” puts the rate argument in a tradie's words.

How it was made

I open wide on the pair with the interviewer's setup question, “So you're a business owner?”, and he answers, “Yeah, plumber.” Then I cut in to a medium shot and let him lay out the problem in his own order: he saved over four grand, his mate the electrician saved about 300 a month on ute repayments, and both had taken the dealer's “business rate” because they had an ABN.

The middle stretch covers what AutoBuddy checks: the ABN, time trading, sole trader against company, over 30 lenders and no hard credit check. Then comes a jab at dealers who “pick the lender that pays them the fattest commission.” When the interviewer asks about the $4,000, he answers “Same car, same loan term, nearly 2% lower on the rate,” and I end on the interviewer to camera: “Links right there. 60 seconds, it's free.”
