01

Brief

SeniorsChoice offers seniors life insurance to Canadians, and the ad says it “has helped thousands of Canadians with this type of coverage.” The ad quotes coverage from $14.88 a month, up to $20,000 paid tax free to a family member of your choosing, and no physical medical exam, only a phone call with health and lifestyle questions.

It speaks to seniors who haven't set money aside for funeral costs and expect their children to cover them. The ad has to move them to tap the button under the video and complete the short assessment on the next page.

02

Format and style

The ad runs in two scenes. First comes a street interview on an autumn main street, with a pharmacy and a florist behind them: a male interviewer in a navy quarter-zip with a handheld mic and a grey-haired woman in a burgundy cardigan. Then it cuts to a white-haired woman in a pink cardigan at home, in front of bookshelves, framed photos and a bright window, talking to camera.

The street scene earns the question and the honest “I guess my kids.” The living-room scene hands the numbers to an older woman in a room that looks like her own, a pairing AI insurance video ads for final expense coverage need: a candid moment outside, then a calm explainer at home.

How it was made

I open on the hook, “Who's gonna pay for your funeral?”, then the interviewer asks whether she has put money aside and who she figures will pay. She answers “I guess my kids,” he tells her that “from as little as 15 bucks a month” she could leave up to $20,000 tax free, and her “No. How do I do that?” bridges to the second scene.

The first 35 seconds cut between a two-shot and close singles of each speaker, then the video holds on the woman at home for the last 50 seconds, hands clasped in front of her. Text at the top of the frame sets terms while she talks, “$14.88 p/m based on a 51-year-old female non-smoker with $20,000 of coverage, in the first year” and later “Coverage amount is age dependent.” She gives the CTA twice, “Tap the blue button under this video now” and “Click the button under this video now,” and the ad ends on her.
